The Importance of Communities.
Welcome to the first article on the Your Own Revolution blog.
Today we will talk to you about the importance of communities in our day-to-day lives and we will look at ways it helps individuals to reach personal achievement.
A Community can be simply defined as a “group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic/interest/attitude in common” (Oxford, 2016). Communities are supposed to trigger a two-sided discussion rather than a one-way monologue. The power of communities relies therefore on useful communication and practical advice that sparks a series of concrete actions. Since the dawn of time, people have been organising themselves into communities but the Internet and the social media landscape have completely changed the way communities are created and developed.

Life is not always a long quiet river. To face some of life’s challenges, you need to feel support from your peers. Some things are just impossible to go through alone. Even though at YOR, we believe that you have the tools within you to succeed, the YOR Community serves a purpose: warriors are stronger when organised in an army.
Perhaps to be clearer, let’s have a look at some of the benefits that the YOR Community will provide:
Immediacy:YOR Community has active members from various time zones and countries. You can’t sleep and need to ask a question, talk to somebody at 3am your local time? No problem! Many of our community members are wrapping up lunch while you’re trying to get some sleep.

Making new connections provides you with fresh observations on your challenges and life. There are lots of people who can pour into you and take part into your personal development towards personal achievement. The community allows you to share valuable lessons.
Motivation: Ever loosing motivation and self-confidence? Imagine what making a new connection, seeing a member’s development or achievement can do. You’ll start thinking bigger and dreaming bigger. Champions inspire champions. So sign up to YOR community and make us of the platform.
Synergy: We don’t really know what your personal achievement journey will look like for you, but it surely will be full of people who think just like you and speak your language. YOR community is a taste of what’s to come – people from all walks of life with vastly varied backgrounds who are eager to succeed and live a fulfilling and meaningful life. You will have access to thousands of contacts and network opportunities.

Did you know that approximately ninety-three percent of self-made millionaires attribute their wealth to having coaches? Advise can come from parents, teachers, career mentors or it can even be the wisdom of a good book but coaching is profession.
In the globalised world of today, there is no escape to this simple principle: “YOU BECOME THE PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH”. The single most important skill one can learn is to manage their relationships in an effective manner and make sure you spend your precious time with positive and inspiring people, not letting haters and jealous people dictate your path. Furthermore, Relationship Management is the pinnacle of Emotional Intelligence and one cannot overemphasize the influence of relationships in living a happier and fulfilling life.
“No man or woman is an island”
Research suggests there is a link between a person’s sense of community and his or her desire to succeed. And although success can mean different things for different people, it is more often than a journey (and not a destination) that is not traveled alone. Success is never about you only; it is about the people you serve, the people in the background that got you there. So don’t let yourself be fooled, you will not make it alone…
Loneliness can kill you. And while some people suggest it is a good strategy to keep the pie to yourself (and not sharing the perks), at YOR, we believe in the power of connection, networking and collaboration. Mutual gains will be realised through the multiplication of win-win situations.
We have been working hard to make available to you this online platform. Remember to check it out YOR Community and subscribe to our newsletter for more information.
